Story
As a united family followed by the love of friends. Off we all went to celebrate the wedding of the year. Something that had been planned for, for over a year and took some organising. Which made the excitement electric.
No one can disagree that one of the most important days of your life would be your wedding day surrounded by your loved ones.
So when a nightmare begins with the brides mother turning ill by health- it’s understandably an overwhelming feeling you never want to experience. Especially being in a foreign country.
To cut a very long story short. The communication between the Greek healthcare system, to the insurance company, to the British embassy has been very challenging. This challenge has been more due to the language barrier.
We have been faced with every single diagnosis you can imagine. Firstly, heart failure, then a stroke,-due to the stroke she has evidence of left sided weakness, intermittent confusion/hallucinations and signs of being intermittently blind (which has now resolved).
We were then told her kidney function had tailed off, she has had seizures and convulsions and been informed she was epileptic, in addition a potential diagnosis of multiple sepsclrosis- we all know it takes more than a scan to diagnosis such life changing conditions.
This has happened within the last 7 days and we still don’t have a full pictures of what is making her condition critically ill.
The ongoing scans, tests all of which come with risk, she’s had many. We have been told her best chance is being within the UK to reduce the chance of infection. Inevitable there is already imminent psychological impact for all involved.
The wedding party have now been flown home to safety and the bride has stayed with her mother which was not of any question. (We would all do the same for our own mother).
The bride has not spent a night with her new husband and has hardly seen him or there 2 beautiful children since their marriage.
Sharing the responsibility of making life as normal as possible for all the children, whilst abroad, sharing responsibly of care for the brides mother in hospital. She is unable to be left alone.
It has been a stressful time for all which is ongoing.
Right now the bride is still in greece to support her mother in hospital. In Greece relatives stay continuously throughout admission.
The insurance company state she’s not fit for a commercial flight and requires an air ambulance to be flown back to Newcastle
.They will pay out 25% of the bill which is £20,000, this is only to fly her home.
With huge discussion from this proud family we can not think of another way then asking for a small donation of anyone who is willing to help.
We will all be forever grateful for any help what so ever and as the saying goes “any penny helps”.
All we want is a true diagnosis from our amazing NHS as we have realised they are second to none in what they do every single day.
Please allow us to have gratitude for any generous donations yous may wish to give. Much, much love xx
