I am currently in Calais volunteering with the amazing charity Care4Calais. Many people asked me before I came here "Why are you going there? The jungle is gone." True the Jungle is gone, it has been burnt to the ground but what do you think happened to the 11,000 people who were living there? Many of them went on buses to CAOs (shelters) around France. they were separated from their friends and forced to leave the place they called home (the jungle was awful but it was home). Many people are now in a camp in Dunkirk where conditions are dire. Shelters the size of your bathroom which up to 9 people sleep in are covered in black mould so thick it looks like fur. Men, women and children are getting very sick.

We can help them.

Care4Calais need money to buy equipment to clear the mould and make shelters safe. To keep refugees warm and fed.

There is so much more than this going on. I am keeping a diary and will bore you all with the details when I get back to the U.K.

I see this as a humanitarian crisis and believe that it is our collective responsibility to help our fellow man.
