Story

Hi everyone,

A short background into the sport that I compete in, it's called the Decathlon. It is 10 events over 2 grueling days of competition and to finish off the 2 days, you have to run the 1500m. Some famous names include Daley Thompson, more recently Ashton Eaton and then locally to Essex, Dean Macey.

My best achievement is winning the national championships at the end of 2015, which was the last time I threw a javelin in competition.

My injury occurred back in 2014 when an accident in school forced my shoulder out of the socket and to dislocate. 7 Dislocations later and I find myself in an awkward situation.. no surgery.. no more competing. The 7 dislocations have taken place at some point over the last 4 years, the last one was in May 2016 - which was the turning point. After years of rehabilitation I finally consulted someone that told me there was no other option but to have surgery. Every time I raise my arm above my head or go to sleep at night with my arm under my pillow, I feel like my shoulder will dislocate. Now I know why. The consultation very quickly showing that my shoulder joint is too stretched for any surrounding muscles to connect and hold it in place.

With your help I will be able to get my surgery and continue on with my career as an athlete. This is the final resort and without the surgery, it is no exaggeration to say that my career will be cut very, very short.

I hope that you can help me achieve my target and allow me to get my surgery.

Thank you for taking time to read my story.

Kristian
