Story
On 17th April myself and my daughter Chloe will be walking a massive 40 miles for charities Andy’s man club and Mind. Please take a couple of minutes to read my story.
On the morning of April 18th 2019 I was getting ready for a couple of days away with my son Lewis at Thorpe Park. At approximately 6:40am I set off to take Luna out for her morning walk, after about 10 minutes I looked across to my left and saw someone in the field, I knew something wasn’t right, I started shouting to him whilst walking towards him, feeling quite scared at this point, when there was no response I ran to him as fast as I could but the young man had taken his own life.
The police arrived later that morning to take my statement and offer me aftercare support, i didnt know the gentleman or his family but i was told by the police that he did suffer with mental health.
My son who was only 14 at the time was absolutely amazing, we went on our trip and he was the support I needed, he tried to keep me distracted but at the times when I broke down or lay in the hotel sobbing he was there just to hug me!
Not a day went by for weeks/months without me thinking of that morning and if only I’d have gone out earlier could I have saved him?!
I won’t ever forget the gentleman or his family and they’ll forever be in my thoughts, I also won’t forget the support from my family and friends and that one person who treated and spoke to me like you always did, you made me laugh and made me feel like my normal self which is what I needed.
I haven’t shared a small part of this story for anyone’s sympathy, I’ve done it for your cash 😃 so please if you feel you can sponsor us we will be so grateful.
Thank you to you all!!
