My name is Krystal and next summer I will be taking part in a British exploring expedition to the Canadian Yukon for 5 weeks.This will contribute to my Gold DofE residential and will also help me gain experience, as I would like to do a zoology or biochemistry degree at University. The 5 weeks will be to track animals such as Elk, Caribou, many bird species and more, as well as doing scientific research while trekking for 3 weeks and paddling for 2 weeks, in the Big Salmon river. I will learn how to protect the environment whilst doing geological studies, water sampling and learning about glacial history. This trip will test my endurance and make me go outside of my comfort zone (I will have to do wild camping under the stars!), while developing and understanding what we can do to protect the environment, as well as helping to learn about animals in their natural habitat.
