🥋 KUGB Charity Appeal 2025–2026: Supporting vital charities including LUPUS UK 💜
The Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) is proud to be raising funds for those affected by autoimmune conditions by supporting charities such as LUPUS UK for the 2025–2026 appeal.
About LUPUS UK
LUPUS UK is the only national charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people affected by lupus — a serious, incurable autoimmune disease. Lupus causes the immune system to attack healthy tissue, leading to inflammation, pain, and damage to vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, lungs, and brain.
Lupus can be unpredictable and difficult to diagnose, and because it’s not widely understood, many people live with it for years before getting the right support. LUPUS UK works to change this through:
• Funding vital medical research to improve treatment and find a cure.
• Offering practical support and guidance to individuals and families affected.
• Raising awareness among the public and healthcare professionals alike.
Every donation helps them continue this crucial work – and every pound makes a difference.
Why We’ve Chosen This Cause: Isabelle’s Story
In September 2024, Isabelle – a teenage black belt from Hutton SKC – was diagnosed with lupus.
She became seriously unwell and spent 9 days in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Thankfully, early treatment meant there was no lasting organ damage — but lupus is a lifelong condition. Isabelle will now need daily medication and is likely to experience flare-ups throughout her life.
The impact has been huge. She missed almost the entire Autumn term at school and faced the challenges of recovery at a time when most children are simply focused on enjoying their teenage years. But Isabelle is resilient. Since January, she’s been back at school and, with the support of her karate family, has returned to training at Hutton SKC. She is gradually building up her strength and managing her condition day by day.
Being back in the dojo has helped Isabelle reconnect with the people and routines that bring her joy. Her family had never heard of lupus before her diagnosis. It’s a frightening and unpredictable disease, and it’s especially hard to accept that a young girl like Isabelle will have to live with it forever. No one should face lupus alone – and with your help, we can make a real difference.
💜 Please donate if you can. 💜
Every contribution brings us one step closer to better treatments, greater awareness, and a future free from lupus.
Thank you,
