    Story

Please Help Me Raise Funds to Help Orphans in Ghana

We don’t get to choose where we are born, nor do we choose our parents; otherwise we will all strive to be born with silver spoons in our mouths. The harsh reality is that some are born into this world without knowing their biological parents. Some are fortunate to have relatives or benevolent people look after them but for others, they have to depend on society.

The rest of us also have a choice; we can look on helplessly or we can take action to help. So I have decided to raise funds for one orphanage in Ghana: the Mother Care Orphanage and Welfare Home. Some of the kids in this Orphanage lost their parents through tragedies, while others were abandoned by their parents who for whatever reason could not provide them with the love and care they need. Mother Care Orphanage and Welfare Home steps into the gap to provide the basic needs of the children including love and care.

The demands on the Orphanage are enormous but there is little ongoing financial support for what they do. A small group of classmates has come together to assist the Orphanage to meet its immediate need to rebuild a recently collapsed classroom block. The building is part of a school built on site to educate the children as it is too expensive to transport the children daily to attend school offsite.

My goal is to raise £4000 to help rebuild the classroom block and buy a few supplies to ensure the children can continue to receive the education they need. I am using my half-marathon run to crowdfund the Orphanage's short-term goal of rebuilding the classroom block. This will be the first step in assisting the Orphanage to meet their long-term goal and ensuring that the they can continue to provide the necessary assistance to orphaned and abandoned children in Ghana.

Your generous financial support will be greatly appreciated. To donate, please click on the purple 'Donate' button on the top right of your screen.

Okyere. This is my wife's contribution to our cause. Hope all goes through and helps. As I indicated before, this would bring us up to £400. I can stop doing press ups every morning now. Phew.
