Story
As many of you will know in 2012 I spent 5 months volunteering in Malawi. I was involved with a small charity called Community Highlight and I was based in an area of Malawi called Domasi and I was involved in the local schools. I met some amazing people whilst I was there and feel very passionate about helping as much as I can.
This area of Malawi is hugely affected by poverty and malnutrition so a feeding programme has been set up and funded purely by donations.
The feeding programme encourages parents to send their children to school and eases their worries of having to provide breakfast for their children. Not all families can afford to provide their children with three meals a day; in fact, it is very common for Malawian families to live on two or even one meal a day.
Furthermore, chronic malnutrition plagues Malawi resulting in almost half of the children under-five years being stunted. By ensuring that the children in the schools have at least one nutritious meal a day we're taking the first steps towards stunting prevention.
All the money donated will go directly to feeding the children in these schools.
