Story

The statistics are sobering: approximately 75% of all suicides are male, making it the leading cause of death for men under 45. 2024 marked the year I wanted to do more to help. By setting myself a couple of big challenges, I'm hoping to raise money for The Ryan Connell Foundation. The foundation was established in July 2021 in memory of Ryan Connell – a remarkable young man and friend who we lost in March 2021 after a short period of mental illness. The aim of the foundation is to financially support those who are struggling in life for whatever reason. The foundation was established to support local causes in and around Glasgow and has already donated to a number of existing charities since 2021.

In April this year I'll be running my first marathon, The Manchester Marathon, and although I'd say I'm pretty fit, this scares the life out of me! In May I'll be hosting around 100 players at a Men's Mental Health Golf Tournament at Whitecraigs Golf Club. With both events the goal is to raise as much money as possible and positively impact as many lives as I can. Any support with either a donation, raffle prize or sponsors would be massively appreciated.

Here's the last photo I had with Ryan, meeting him out in Bali on the way back from his time in Australia. Great memories!
