Borneo 2019

Hello. My name is Mia and I am 14 years old. In August 2019, I will be embarking on the trip of a lifetime to Borneo with my school. I will be there for 4 weeks and during this time, my school mates and I will be doing some amazing things to help the local communities and help protect the wildlife and environment.

Our aim is to build a new classroom for children who struggle on a daily basis to get the education they need. Something that we, unfortunately take for granted. We will also be involved in projects to help improve the health of the community such as installing new water facilities and water feed systems.

One thing that I am really excited to be doing is visiting the Orangutan Sanctuary where we will see orphaned and injured orangutans before they are released back in to the wild.

Although I am going to miss home, being away for so long but, I am excited and scared at the same time, to be taking on this challenge. I would really love to make a difference to other people's life's and know that I have participated in giving children the opportunities that I have had.
