Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Stroke has had a major impact on mine and my family’s life. In January 2017, my Mum had a major stroke and one week later, she passed away. This devastated our family, and it is not something which we will ever be able to fully recover from.
In memory of my Mum, and to support a friend of mine who has also had a stroke, myself and 3 friends are on a training journey to complete a bike ride from London to Paris in July 2020 in support of A Stroke of Luck.
A Stroke of Luck is an organisation setup to help stroke survivors gain access to exercise-based rehabilitation services, and has recently been awarded registered charity status following approval by the Charity Commission of England & Wales.
Established in May 2019 by my friend and ischemic stroke survivor Craig Pankhurst, A Stroke of Luck’s mission is to provide other stroke survivors with advice and the opportunity to access the services of fitness professionals to aid in recovery and rehabilitation.
Both A Stroke of Luck and its approach are unique: recognising the impact exercise can have on stroke recovery through the results of extensive research, A Stroke of Luck aims to match stroke survivors with local fitness professionals through an online web portal, set for a 2020 release. In addition, A Stroke of Luck will be creating content which can be accessed by all stroke survivors. We are raising money to support the charity in their development. Already, A Stroke of Luck has been recognised by the World Stroke Organization as a charity which could benefit the lives of stroke survivors across the world.
On 16th July 2020, we will be setting off from London and will be arriving in Paris on 18th July 2020. We are now in a period of training and we would love you to be part of our journey by donating whatever you can, raise awareness of A Stroke of Luck by sharing their information, and by watching our training progress through regular videos.
Wish us luck!
