Story

My Daughter Lacey is looking to raise £5000 to help support our local homeless shelter. 50 Backpacks for the homeless , 50 backpacks is a local charity that supports the homeless people of Wisbech.

Due to the events we currently face, 50 back packs has had to adapt to the current situation and is now helping to provide desperately needed supplies for the vulnerable.

The charity desperately needs donations to help with the demand from vulnerable local residents unable to leave their homes due to isolating.

Lacey (and Mummy & Daddy 😀) will be climbing Snowdon on her 8th birthday in April to help raise funds and awareness for the centre.

50 Backpacks provide cooked meals, showering and wash facilities, help with training courses and the ultimate goal is the re-homing of the service users.

As you can imagine this is quite a costly task and at the moment is run entirely by volunteers that devote their time to making this possible.

Basic running costs (to keep the centre open are around £30,000 per annum) so far it has been a real struggle to keep up with these day to day costs.

In the last 2 Months of 2019 they were able to serve over 3500 meals, helped 48 individuals gain new qualifications, distributed 4200 essential items and re-homed 9 people all without any Government funding.

The bottom line is that without the help and support of the local community none of this would be possible, there are 30,000 people plus living in Wisbech and surrounding areas by everyone donating just £2 per year the centre would have additional funding to help re-house many of the homeless living in our town.

The centre urgently requires funds to make it through to April when they have some funding coming.

Please help Lacey reach her target of £5000 by donating and sharing as much as possible, also please like and share the 50 Backpacks Facebook page to help raise awareness.
