Lagan Search & Rescue is an acute water rescue and independent lifeboat service, dedicated to the seaward side of River Lagan in Belfast and its immediate environment.

At present, our beautiful lifeboats are kept in Belfast Marina, but we have a problem! The sea-life in the river Lagan just love our lifeboats as much as we do, so we have to take them out of the water every few weeks to clean the critters off the hull. Why is this a problem you ask? Well unfortunately they are causing damage to the boat and engines, along with creating drag which slows us down enormously when responding to an incident. Not to mention, when the lifeboats need to come out of the water for cleaning, we are unable to respond to incidents!

What's the solution? A drive on and off pontoon! As shown in the picture, we are hoping to be able to fund a pontoon which allows the lifeboats to be kept well clear of those pesky hungry critters. When we need to launch in an emergency, we simply push the boat off the pontoon! It's going to cost us £13000 to get this sorted and installed so we need your help!!
