Story

I'm trekking to Everest Base Camp (pandemic permitting) in November 2020 for the Sedgefield Memory Café. A locally ran, unfunded, safe space for Dementia & Alzheimers patients and their carers based in Sedgefield Fire Station. Here they can sit and have a natter over a cuppa, take part in different crafts, and, when funds allow, go on daytrips. The hardwork Carol & Dorothy put in to keep the cafe running is remarkable, and hopefully with the funds raised from my trip to Everest, it'll only get bigger and better. We've got great plans, and just need the funds to make them happen! Aside from the cafe itself, Dorothy and Carol run Dementia friendly training for all the local businesses and residents, ensuring that all the teams that operate here know the best way to run and act should an incident with a patient occur. Making the village a safer, better and more inclusive place for everyone who lives here - regardless of ability.
