Story
Arran is the most loving and caring boy you could ever meet, however, his autism causes him to struggle with anxiety and meltdowns. Our goal is to train an Autism support dog which will give Arran the best chance in life and keep him safe.
A little about an autism assistant dog...
An autism assistance dog receives advance training much like a guide dog. This helps access services in day to day situations, encouraging social skills and independence. In turn improving and developing life skills, safety, socialisation, comfort and better quality of life. Having an assistance dog will support autistic individuals to access public places such as shopping centres, restaurants, cinema, airport, doctors, public transport and much more.
An autism specific assistance dog can increase social interaction, confidence and safety. They can comfort and protect in times of great anxiety or stress and keep a person safe in times of grave danger by alerting, carrying out deep pressure techniques and distraction. Most of all your child/adult will experience and gain unconditional love and a best friend for life. A guardian angel in the guise of a dog.
The training though is not cheap which is why I am looking for the help. The money raised will cover some of the cost of the advanced training.

7 years agoCont... Autism life dogs is a non profit organisation which is not run on donations and shows the cost of how much it costs to train these dogs. I have applied to all non profit organisations and my goal is to raise £9,500 required to train a puppy. Should I be fortunate enough to be awarded a puppy from a charitable group (however unlikely this is) then all money raised will be donated to that company to allow then to train another dog.

7 years agoThere are many groups that train autism puppies. The danger is finding the right one. The important thing is to find a non-profit-making organisation where care is taken over training the puppies and not just a means to line their pockets. Many of the non profit organisation are actually run on donations however, have all had to close their waiting list as they simply do not have the funding to train the dogs. On average 1 in every 100 applicants are successful.
