Story

The game of basketball is a costly one. Being far from the UK's national sport, there is not much support by way of funding, etc. to alleviate the fees for clubs and players.

The Lancashire Spinners Women basketball provision provides skills, knowledge, and support to female players from all ages and all financial background. We pride ourselves on inclusivity and fairness. Each member pays a fee according to their needs, yet our club's expenditure continues to exceed its revenue. All female members of Lancashire Spinners have worked hard in previous years to supplement our club's outgoings with other fundraising activities. We have performed sponsored free throws; climbing Mount Everest as a team, when we utilised the climbing wall in Haslingden - the girls climbed 29,000ft! More recently we performed a 12-hour basketball game which was gruelling and a true testament to the passion felt for our club.

We continue to open our doors to run community sessions to females of all ages, from year 4 upwards, novice adult females, as well as our current teams. Come and join us if you or a young one want to get fit. Our aim is to continue developing aspiring female players in our community, and you can help to support us and our girls. All our coaches (Andy, Guy, Phil and Stacey) are volunteers with the club, bringing their knowledge and expertise to support all.

Our females make fantastic progress whilst getting fit, having fun, relieving stress and making friends. We are a caring club, but we also get results. Some of our players have progressed to playing at regional and international levels with our most recent prodigy being shortlisted for GB this summer! Please give what you can to support this cause knowing that your donation will have a positive impact on the females in our borough by improving their health and opportunities.

Your donation, large or small is received with gratitude - thank you for reading.
