I've raised £500 to support hundreds of families to grow their own vegetables in the face of the increasingly desperate food shortage in Sri Lanka.

Experts in Sri Lanka are predicting that the food shortage will reach critical levels by September this year.
The team at Polwaththa Eco Lodges, in collaboration with Eko Land Produce, put their heads together to think of a sustainable way to provide aid to the people of the surrounding area in Gomagoda, and other villages. Our initial thought was to provide food packages, but we quickly realised that while the short term support is helpful, it is long term food independence that is truly required.
Using generous donations we have been able to purchase compost, vegetable seeds, and tools to support 250 families. This will enable people to grow their own very valuable food resources and begin a path to be sustainable independently, not having to rely so much on the quickly dwindling imported produce.
If you would like to support us, our next step is to spread the reach of our seed gifting, supporting more families to become less reliant on a broken system. We would also like to gift some community chickens to provide eggs and valuable nutrition in this upcoming period of hardship.
Per family the approximate cost is 4500 SLR which comes to just under £10. please support us with whatever you can on our journey to creating an independent food source for our local people so that the upcoming crisis can be eased.
Thank you!
