I've raised £1000 to help fund laptops for disadvantaged children who can't access their online education. Each laptop bought will be matched by Walton Charity.

As the Founder and Chair of ‘The Surrey & Sussex HR Forum’ (which is a local business community with over 500 members), it made me think that we must be able to help in some way? So, we came up with a plan and opened it up to the whole HR Forum community. Our plan was to collaborate with Commpoint Ltd, our IT support company and with the Walton Charity so we could collect, wipe and set-up any donated laptops and distribute them to those children who were most in need.
The initiative worked brilliantly last year and even with schools now reopening, the need is still great. So, we are continuing to collect and distribute new and used laptops to those children who are continuing to fall behind with their learning due to lack of online access.
We recognise that not everyone may have a spare new/used laptop to donate, hence we have set up this JustGiving page to help fund the buying of new laptops...and there are strong incentives to do so:-
* Steve Jackson, MD of of Commpoint Ltd can buy new laptops at cost price and then set them up ready for immediate use. (All Steve's time spent working on these new laptops, as well as the used ones, is for free and we hugely appreciate this - thank you)
For every new laptop we buy, Walton Charity will match our donation and will supply another laptop for free (an incredibly generous donation that makes this route even more effective - thank you)
Any contribution, big or small, will help to make a difference and we all know how desperate this need is at the moment.
If you, or your business, can donate any new/used laptops - or if you know anyone else who may like to help, I would love to hear from you: sharon@therecruitmentconsultancy or 07787 552145. Alternatively you can chat to a member of our team on: 01483 456465
We can collect, wipe all personal data and distribute these laptops quickly and effectively. All you need to do is contact us and we can sort out the rest. (If you would rather erase the personal data yourself, this link from the National Cyper Security Centre can help: https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/guidance/buying-selling-second-hand-devices).
We all know someone that is struggling at the moment, whether it is emotionally or financially and this is the time, more than ever, that we can support each other and the communities around us.
Thank you for reading this and please don't worry if you are unable to contribute or donate, however, if you are able to spread the word and share this page, I would be very grateful.
