Story

On Sunday, 8th October 2017, I'll be taking part in the Yorkshire Marathon. This will be my first marathon, and because it's my first, I wanted to raise money for a charity that's really special and close to my heart.

Last Chance Animal Rescue in Spain are a small group of ladies, founded by Jacqui Ross, whose mission is to rescue as many dogs as possible from the killing station near Málaga. They are not a government funded charity and rely solely on donations.

In my picture you will see Rosemary (Rosie), lying on the bed and looking utterly spoiled. It wasn't always like this for her though. Last year she was hit by a car and abandoned, left to die in a ditch with a dislocated hip and a badly broken leg.

Fortunately, Lucinda from Last Chance Animal Rescue found Rosie, and took her straight to the vets. Rosie had to have several operations, costing over €1000 in total.

Rosie was fostered in three separate homes over several months before she was well enough to be adopted. When Lucinda shared Rosie's photo online it was love at first sight for me. In August she will make her last journey: from Spain to my home in Yorkshire, where she will spend the rest of her days being absolutely smothered with love.

Rosie's story isn't unique though - there are so many dogs and other animals in desperate need, more vets bills to be paid, more foster homes required. More donations desperately needed. Last Chance has given me my gorgeous girl - without them she simply wouldn't be alive today. So please help me give thanks to them and support their future rescues!
