7 years ago i was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) after suffering years of back pain - this was done with MRI scans.
Since then, my pain has changed and gotten a lot worse, i have currently been off work since April 2016 and have been referred to the pain clinic under the NHS - who have done nothing for me. All they did was give me a stronger pain killer (Tapentadol).
I have requested time and time again another MRI as the last one was 12/04/2013, almost 4 years ago! But they will not. On 14/11/2016 the pain was too much i ended up needing hospital treatment to get the pain under control. Whilst i was there i asked the neurological doctor if i could have another scan, and tried to explain that this is NEW pain to me, its worse than anything i've ever experienced - but it fell on deaf ears. I got told no, we don't scan for a bad back...Oh how i wish it was "just a bad back". Currently i can't walk, i can't sit up, i have been in bed for 23 days and am having no alternative but to go private for my healthcare. I have authorisation from Bupa for an MRI, Xray, Ultrasound and blood test. The cover i have is through my employer but i have to pay a portion of it so hoping to try and get friends/family/anyone whos willing to help me pay my portion, as im not working and can't with this pain and unable to even stand :(
