Story

This is about my Sister Lisa, her partner Zac and my two Nephews, Riley and Arthur.
My sister and Zac where expecting their first child together, this was an exciting and beautiful time, when Lisa had her 12 week scan and gender scan it was so exciting, all healthy and growing well! Growing a beautiful little boy! Then the 20 week scan come and it was so amazing for them too see their baby again! Then the devasting news came that there was something wrong. Lisa had a rare condition that only 1% of women get, A two vessel cord. This meant her cord that connects her and the baby had one artery and one vein. It can affect the growth of the baby, its heart and it's kidneys, which In Lisa's and Zacs case Baby Arthur had numerous problems with his organs. They made a decision no parent should have to do. The advice from two consultants at St micheals maternity hospital, Give birth next week. If Arthur was born full term there would be uncertainty on his little life, long term illnesses and countless operations.
Telling Riley that he wouldn't be meeting his little brother, they told him that he was never alive to begin with and that it's like a new toy that's broke, you can't fix it or make it better.
On 21/11/18 Lisa went to be induced to give birth to Arthur. She had the most amazing support of Zac, her best friend Gem and Zacs Mum Dawn. But most of all the midwives that got her through this. This was on Rowan Suite at Musgrove. This suite has been funded by people that have been through a loss of their child. Their funding has made this journey slightly barrable, Providing a basket and bedding for Arthur to lay peacefully in. They got Arthur's hand and foot prints, memory pebbles and a bracelet. Lisa and Zac stayed overnight with their precious Son, there was no rushing, pushing them out the door. This is why we are setting up this page, to help other families in this cruel situation by being able to provide them with the same care and empathy that Lisa and Zac had!
