Story
My name is Laura and I am a Young Leader with
1st Ordsall Brownies and a member of 1st Retford Senior Section, Retford Division.
In April 2017 I was selected to represent Girlguiding Nottinghamshire at the Roverway 2018 WOS and WAGGS International Event hosted by The Netherlands.
Over 3000 European Guides & Scouts aged 16 to 22 will come together from over 20 different countries for an amazing experience. I will join other participants to take part in social action programmes working together, with each other, in local communities throughout the Netherlands.
The event is designed to encourage me to challenge how I see the world and develop confidence and independence through incredible opportunities, whilst helping and supporting communities in another country. I hope to then transfer these skills to continue supporting my own local community of Ordsall and Retford.
Over the next twelve months I will have to fundraise the cost of the trip including travel, accommodation and all the equipment needed which will be £1200
I’ve enjoyed being a part of Girlguiding since I was 6, when I joined as a Rainbow. I’ve gone on to become a Brownie, Guide and a member of Senior Section. I now volunteer as a Young leader with my old Brownie Unit based in Ordsall, Retford.
Some amazing people have given their time & enthusiasm to offer me new experiences, challenges and skills. I now want to give other young women and girls in my local community and in those around the world the same opportunities I’ve had.
Don’t worry if you can’t attend any of my fundraising events. You can show your support instead by making a donation online.
Thank you very much for supporting me. It really will make a difference to me and the communities I will be helping.
