I live near an elderly lady who is really struggling. She is very proud and would be highly offended if she knew I was asking for help on her behalf. So I'm hoping to keep this quite hushed. Basically six months ago, the man she has spent her life with died suddenly. Leaving her with no money, no life insurance, a high mortgage and high bills. She is slowly getting help from the government.
But today, today broke my heart. I found her crying hysterically as she doesn't want to celebrate Christmas. Not only is it the first Christmas without her soul mate. But this Christmas she can't afford to buy her son a single thing. (He is in his early 20's!) I'm currently sorting my finances to donate her a voucher so she can get him something. I was just wondering if anyone else has anything they could donate.
My plan is to make a basket of vouchers. And leave it on her door step, with a note wishing her a merry Christmas and to treat herself and her son.
I will also include a print off from this so she knows the money has been given directly to her.
Please please please help me do this! I know we had such an amazing success with the clothing bundle I asked help for. No one should feel sad at Christmas, and I can't bare to think how she is feeling!
