Story
Hi,
The remarkable Noah's Ark Children's Hospital and charity holds a very special place in my family's hearts. When my precious twin girls were just 2 weeks old, Ava became very poorly with bronchiolitis and ended up being admitted to the intensive care unit at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital to be ventilated for 5 days, as she was too small and weak to breathe unaided. At the same time, her sister Evie was poorly (but not as seriously poorly) in the Royal Gwent Hospital. It was an extremely tough time for our family as I was in Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital with Ava, my husband in the Royal Gwent Hospital with Evie and our little boy Louie at home with his grandparents.
This outstanding hospital, intensive care unit and it’s amazing staff reassured us constantly that she was in the safest place and in the best hands when I really could not see the positive in anything at all. I have first-hand experience of how they work tirelessly to look after sick children and reassure terrified parents during harrowing times and we will never be able to thank them enough.
Luckily, Ava was reunited with her sister at the Royal Gwent after 6 long days and shortly after that they were both allowed home. They are happy, healthy and mischievous little 2 year olds now and my family and I constantly count our lucky stars!
However, there are a lot of children who spend so much of their precious lives in and out of the hospital. Our main aim for completing this walk is to raise money which will continue to support this remarkable hospital and to help make the lives of their young, sick patients as comfortable and positive as possible. It will also be a way of thanking the hospital and staff in our own way.
We would be so grateful if you could spare any amount to help us support this incredible cause.
Thank you ,
Laura, David and family xx
