I've raised £10000 to two charities close to my heart!!!!

My name is Laura, I am 39 years old. I was born with Usher Syndrome type 2, which affects my eyes and ears. I am partially deaf and registered blind. I rely on my guide dog, Jaz to get me around.
I cycle with the Bury Tandem club, which gets me out every Sunday and helps me enjoy my life to the full with a great bunch of people. We have several tandems and volunteer front riders that take us on 45+ mile bike rides each week.
I completed the Cholmondley half marathon on Sunday 20th June with my amazing running guide Caroline. We have been road training together and the terrain was a challenge but we were delighted to finish with a time of 2 hours 15 mins!
I also run with several running guides, who volunteer to get me out and and about and provide training for my upcoming triathalon. My latest guide is call Kirsty and she will be running the half marathon leg of my triathlon.
I also swim at life leisure, grand central and the life guards and staff support me and I am able to have my own lane, so I do not injure myself or others.
So far I have competed with Caroline in the Wilmslow Half Marathon on 12th September and the Manchester Marathon on the 10th October 2021. In total I have completed 12 running events from 10k's to a sprint triathlon.
I am doing these challenges to show that even with disabilities you can live your best life, and fulfil dreams and aspirations.
My next event is Staffordshire 70.3 iron man which is on the Sunday 11th June 2023 and involves a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 miles bikes riding and then finishing with a half marathon. This will be my biggest event to date and I am excited as well as nervous to complete this. I have 3 volunteer to help me on each leg of the event.
