    Story

Ok people heres my story, during an abs class, people were talking about running 20 odd miles. I remember my response being 'I can't run a minute never mind a mile' which i was then told of course you can, and so it began. I started my journey with Davie who worked a lot on my confidence, he showed me the way and shouted at me when things got tough (which is exactly what I needed), he was also caring and compassionate when he needed to be too. A knee injury at the end of 2016 prevented him for running for quite a long time, during this time I got lazy so I decided to enter the Great Edinburgh Run (10 miles) to ensure I would keep up my training.

This is where my journey took a twist, the mother of one of my good friends noticed I was doing the race and volunteered to train with me (might I add she has been a runner all her life). If someone had told me 16 years ago I would be running with Kim Forbes I would have laughed in your face. Kimbo has been my rock, my trainer and a good friend, she has shown me the path to the next level. I'm not gonna lie I've been very scared along the way but extremely proud of how far I've come and that's down to the remarkable support, love and guidance from Davie and Kimbo.

As most of u know I worked in Oakland's school for many years, which is a school for children and young people with severe and complex needs. I gained most of my experience and knowledge of working with disabilities there and i want to further my support.

The Yard is a place that continues to support most of the people i worked with, it offers disabled children, young people, and their siblings, the chance to experience creative, adventurous indoor and outdoor play in a well supported environment. It is a unique, safe space where children and young people experience truly inclusive play.

If you ever get the chance to see the amazing work these guys do you will completely understand why I want to raise money to help support this wonderful place.
