I am 13 years old and a year 9 student at Tiverton High School. Along with a group of 40 other students I am currently preparing for a volunteering trip to Kenya to work with community projects which provide an education to children in very deprived areas.

Whilst on this once in a life time trip I will be visiting schools in very poor areas of Kenya. Without this projects support, many of these children would not have access to an education, clean water and sanitation. The school also provides many of the children's only daily meal.

In most of the schools the classes can have up to 60 students to one teacher. My volunteering will involve assisting teachers with lessons which will allow the students to receive better learning experiences. I will also be helping to prepare meals and to teach students games and sports.

In order to take part in this trip, I have been asked to raise £2,000 and I have decided to do a sponsored hair cut which will also benefit The Little Princess Trust. I am planning to have at least 8 inches cut off my hair (pictured above) which I will donate to the Little Princess Trust to make a wig for children who have lost their hair due to illness.
