Story

On Christmas Day my Dad Paul Gorge was taken into West Cumberland Hospital with Covid, he was taken to Intensive Care and put into an induced coma and placed on a ventilator. He was transferred to Newcastle RVI on Boxing Day, where he was taken to the High Dependancy Unit (HDU) and remained on a ventilator in a critical condition for 5 days. My Dad was then taken off the ventilator and remained in the HDU Unit until Saturday 2nd January, he was then moved into an Intensive Care Unit to continue to be monitored and cared for. After a few days on this ward my Dad was then transferred to Ward 19 to contiune his recovery for a further 11 days.

We can't thank the amazing staff at Newcastle RVI enough, in particular the staff in the HDU Unit Ward 38, the Intensive Care Unit and the staff in Ward 19. Also the ITU staff at Whitehaven Hospital for their initial care and support. Not only have they saved my Dads life they work tirelessly to save lives every minute of every day and we can't thank them enough for this. They are truly amazing people and are putting their own lives at risk everyday to save others.

We are raising funds as a token of appreciation and a gift to the staff who saved my Dads life.

We will be forever grateful
