    Story

Next Month I will be travelling to Zambia, a trip put together through work, to support the ATD Foundation; below are full details of what the foundation is all about.

During our visit to Zambia, we will be seeing some of the projects already in place and also visiting some schools and communities that are in desperate need of our help, so we can decipher where investment is needed the most. We will also be taking part in some work on current projects.

The cost of the trip has been paid for by myself and heavily subsidised by the CEO of the company I work for and founder of The ATD Foundation. All money raised will go directly to the foundation.

The ATD Foundation is a UK-based grant-giving charity which currently funds water, sanitation, education and football projects in Zambia.

At the same time, the ATD Foundation are working with the Livingstone Youth Football Academy who recruit players and offer opportunities to young people throughout the Southern Province of Zambia. By improving the facilities of the club and supporting local projects, the club is developing into a force for good in the local community. The players’ success breeds ambition amongst younger locals, many of whom are AIDs orphans. We aim to increase the reach of the football club to enable orphans from more remote villages to play, harness their talent and develop not only their football skills, but through membership of their local team, confidence and resilience to support advances in the local community. The relationship between the football club and the local schools is critical.

Then in September I will be doing the Circuit of Kent, cycling 80km round hilly Kent www.kentcyclosportive.co.uk
