Story

Hello & soursdey from Cambodia,

In England, I used to teach a class in my Dad's pub at 10.30am every Sunday morning. This week ( 24th May) and next week (31st May), I am going to teach a 60 minute live class across Facebook and instagram live.

I know money is tight for lots of us right now, but if you can afford to make a donation it would be much appreciated - no matter how big or small! (My classes used to cost £6 for a drop in at the pub).

Kitchen of Hope is a social enterprise run out of Siem Reap, Cambodia. They aim to make a difference to families lives in poor areas of Siem Reap, Cambodia...one small act of kindness can make a huge difference to a family in need."

Kitchen of Hope is run by a woman called Sue who has become a close friend of mine during these uncertain times. Sue does not take volunteers, she employs Cambodians (and pays them) to manage Kitchen of Hope's projects.

Amongst other initiatives, Kitchen of Hope has supported a farm school. At the school they train women how to farm, skills they can take back to their own villages and grow food for themselves and to sell.

During the COVID-19 crisis, many of the villagers who Kitchen of Hope works with have lost their income and so KoH has been delivering emergency packs of rice, vegetables and soy sauce. With the emergency packs, seeds have also been delivered so people can begin to grow their own vegetables.

A 25 kg bag of rice costs US$15 (£12.20), $3.80 (£3.11) buys 1kg of morning glory seeds, a packet of aubergine seeds and 1 packet of chilli seeds.

Times are difficult here and we are only at the beginning with no knowing how long the downfall in tourism will go on.

If you can afford to make a donation, it is much appreciated.

Much love
