Story

I am currently working as a mental health nurse at Lavender Walk Adolescent Unit, a ward dedicated to young people with mental health difficulties. Lavender Walk provides a safe and therapeutic space and provides support to enable our children to develop a variety of behavioral and emotional skills. The purpose of our sensory room is to encourage young people to engage in relaxation and mindful activities and help them to recognize the importance of the therapeutic use of self and physical environment. This is a space where children can feel safe, calm and engage in therapeutic interventions.

The sensory room has proven to be a favourite amongst the young people at Lavender Walk and has shown to hugely benefit their recovery. We would love to be able to offer more interventions and activities within this area to enhance the skills they can use to safely manage their emotions, therefore I am running the Vitality 10K in order to raise money to go towards extra resources and equipment to improve and develop our sensory room.

Any donations would be hugely appreciated and will help so much!

Thank you,

Em :)
