My 9 year old daughter Lawrie has a condition called Chiari Malformation Type 1, her brain has herniated into the space at the top of the spinal column. This puts pressure on the spinal cord and the brain stem. Lawrie has had 2 decompression surgeries to make more room in the back of her neck and relieve pressure build up. The first surgery when she was 5 years old and the second on the 7th birthday. We spent a fair bit of tome on E40, the nurses, consultants, playworkers to the therapists, they are all amazing. I really do not know how i would have got through the surgeries if it wasnt for these people.
