Story
Lincolnshire Community Assistance Team’s Community First Responders need your support to keep responding to 999 calls on behalf of East Midlands Ambulance Service.
Did you know L-CAT has a CFR (Community First Responder) team and who are they?
Community first responders (CFRs) are in schemes founded and run by volunteers who give up their spare time to attend appropriate emergency calls in their own community. They are dispatched by the EMAS Emergency Operations Centre.
Trained volunteers in L-CAT give up their spare time responding for calls for help not only when they’re on duty, but they can also be called upon when off duty to nearby cardiac arrest/s where every second counts (via an app on their phone) – It’s reported that for every minute that passes without defibrillation a person’s chances of survival can decrease by up to 10%. So having trained volunteers on scene prior to an ambulance arriving gives a patient every possible chance to survive.
So how can you help?
As you can imagine, running a scheme of such importance can be very expensive, it roughly costs £3000 to get a volunteer on the road with training and kit (a defibrillator can cost upward of £1000 alone!) along with continuous running costs, as a volunteer run charity, it wouldn’t be possible without fundraising. We need your help to support Lincolnshire by donating to our CFR team and allowing us to keep on saving lives!
Donate if you can and please share, let us be there for you, your family or your friends!
Money raised will be donated to Lincolnshire Community Assistance Team of which 85% of the final amount will be used in the CFR team for improvement and expansion and 15% for assisting with costs of keeping our volunteers on the road.
