Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Every Step of the Way in May
Over the course of May a lovely team of people will be walking 10,000 steps a day to raise money for Leading Lights Education and Wellbeing. We will be posting regular updates here and on our social media and even hosting (Covid safe!) events throughout the month to encourage people to get walking, such as a photo competition and treasure hunt! If you'd like to be involved in the walking yourself and have a way to track your steps you can sign up HERE after which you will receive an email with all the info you could possibly need.
We want to use this time to focus on the benefits that getting out and walking can have on your mental wellbeing but we also realise that not every day is going to be easy. Whilst our target is for each of our walkers to reach 300,000 steps in May, as long as they get out and spend more time on their feet than they might have otherwise, we're happy that they've made a healthy choice this month and all for a fantastic cause!
and don't forget to follow us on all our socials for updates throughout the month:
Who are Leading Lights:
Leading Lights want to bring love to children and families’ services. We don’t think it’s enough to care a bit, you have to care a lot if you want to transform outcomes.
We provide imaginative, carefully curated and case managed programmes for children and families with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). We believe that education and wellbeing are fundamentally linked and you can’t change long term outcomes without looking at issues holistically. We work with the whole family as much as possible, and for us it’s about long-term change, not short term outcomes.
We are on a mission to ensure that no child or family has to lose out on a world of potential because of mental health, which means they can’t access school or find it hard to make friends. We might not be able to change the past, and we don’t have magic wands, but we do believe that every child and family has the right to get services designed and delivered for their individual needs, and with love and imagination.
We work with children and young people at both primary and secondary school age who are impacted because of mental health. They often have a diagnosed mental health condition or are waiting for a diagnosis, and it is often correlated with a history of trauma or psychological distress, or another disability, learning need, or physical illness. Sometimes, they have not had a diagnosis but are experiencing significant degrees of anxiety and this has led to behavioural changes, self-harming or suicidal thoughts. Many of the children we work with are also affected by issues such as domestic violence, abuse, identity issues, bullying and many are young carers.
