Iʼve raised £830 to Send Uganda Twins Wasswa and Kato to school
- Funded on Friday, 10th November 2017
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
Leah and Misha Akinlami, twin 6 year old girls from the UK, came to me one morning and said that they wanted to do something kind for some kids in Africa... After thinking for a while they decided to run the Run Reigate children's half marathon on the 17th September. How hard could that be right?
The next step was looking for a charity to donate to (Africa is a pretty big place!). However, we were instantly inspired by the story of twin boys Wasswa and Kato. Wasswa and Kato are 2 cheeky chaps who live (and cause havoc) in the village of Ndegeya. They have been through trials and adversity that most of us will never even imagine and still they are always smiling, playing in the mud (and getting into trouble!).
They lost their mother at a young age and live with their father, Maurice, and 9 year old sister Christine.
Their house is half finished and situated just opposite a charity based in Uganda called Creative Canvas Uganda (CCU) to learn more about this charity click herehttp://creativecanvasuganda.org/the-project-2/.
Wasswa and Kato are well loved in their village and are part of the CCU family-they were almost the founding members. Which is why the CCU are trying to raise enough money for the boys to go to school. A privilege which we and our children take very much for granted!
So far enough has been raised for the boys to attend their first year of school. We are looking to raise enough to continue their education for the next few years (lunches included!).
So... Between now and September the girls will be taking part in a number of park runs to build distance leading up to a final 1 mile run on 17th September which will complete their half marathon.
They would love your support in helping them help to sponsor the education of these two nutters! Please help in any way you can, every little bit makes a huge difference... You might just change a life (or two!)
Thanks for your support

7 years agoWOW!! Everyone has been so generous and we really were not expecting such an amazing response.... To all who have donated so far a MASSIVE thank you from Leah and Misha!!! The funds raised so far will allow the boys to go to school for the next 3 years including provision of a hot meal every day!... As the response has been so brilliant we've decided to stretch our target and see if we can raise enough for them to be able to finish primary school giving them the best possible start they can have given their difficult circumstances! xxx
