Help Us Keep Our Pride Growing

On 6th September 2026, a group of amazing Our Pride mums will be putting on their trainers and taking part in the Wigan 10K to raise money for Our Pride.
We're not a big charity. We're a small, self-funded group created by families, for families—and every penny we raise goes towards creating opportunities, experiences and memories for our children and their families.
Where Our Pride began...

Our Pride started back in 2011, when Leanne's daughter was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth.
At the time, there wasn't really anything locally that offered the kind of support we needed. We wanted somewhere we could meet other families who just got it. Somewhere our children could be themselves, where parents didn't have to explain everything, and where we could share the highs, the lows, the worries and the laughs with people who understood.
And that's where Our Pride began.
What started with a need for support has grown into something so much bigger than we ever imagined.

Over the years, friendships have blossomed between our children and between parents too. Some of those friendships have lasted for years, and watching our children grow up together has been incredibly special.

We've shared weekends away, day trips, parties, celebrations, adventures and countless cups of tea and conversations along the way.
We've watched our children make friends, try new things, overcome challenges and create memories that we'll treasure forever.
And that's what we want to keep doing.
Why we're fundraising
As a self-funded group, we rely on fundraising and the generosity of our community to make these experiences possible.

The money raised from the Wigan 10K will help us continue organising activities, trips, events and opportunities for our families—giving our children somewhere they belong and giving families the chance to make memories together.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, really does make a difference.
£5 might help towards an activity for one of our children.
£10 could help us provide something special at one of our events.
And every donation added together helps us continue doing what we do.
So, on 6th September, our mums will be running, walking, probably questioning why they signed up 😂, and hopefully crossing that finish line knowing they're doing it for something that means so much to all of us.
If you can spare anything at all, we'd be incredibly grateful for your support.
You're not just sponsoring a 10K. You're helping us create friendships, opportunities and memories that our families will carry with them for years to come.
Thank you for believing in Our Pride and helping us keep our little community going.
Our Pride — together we are stronger.
