In 2006 Leanne had an accident while working, causing damage to her spine. After surgery in 2007 she was left with chronic pain which has grew gradually worse over the years.

Her mobility has been effected, and on very bad days she has to use a wheelchair, although mostly she can get around using elbow crutches which she uses to stop herself falling due to painful spasms.

Living with this pain has taken its toll and Leanne has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. In addition to her chronic back pain often she has excruciating pain all over her body to the point where even her clothes touching her cause her pain. She can be so fatigued she cannot stand up without her family assisting her, which she finds very undignified.

Leanne was admitted to hospital in June 2015 with her pain, but since her discharge she has been unable to sit in the family room as the combination of everything has caused issues, as her pelvis pushes up on her spine, causing more pain.

She struggles to sit for any length of time, and she cannot safely get up or down on to the sofa. She also needs to take weight off her side as she has developed arthritis in her right hip.

She has had to sit in her bed all day every day for the last 16 months. This has caused depression and she feels separated from the family.

The perfect solution would be to provide Leanne with a specialist chair that would suit her needs. We went to look at these and found a chair which has enough room for her to rise off her hip when needed and also the fabric is soft so when her fibromyalgia flares up, the material should not cause too much pain. Most importantly, it is a riser recliner so no more having to be assisted in and out by her family, giving Leanne back her dignity whilst spending quality time with her family.

It would be a great boost if she could get the chair before Christmas so she can spend the day with her family, in relative comfort.
