Story

Brockley Primary School is a safe, welcoming and nurturing school that offers a sense of belonging. They are a growing and improving school and pride themselves on knowing each and every child inside out. They do their best to help each child find their strengths and talents so that they will flourish and be challenged. The school motto ‘The Brockley Way – Only my best is good enough’ is at the heart of the school's philosophy and they support this through nurturing pupils’ creativity, encouraging independent thinking and learning and showing that failure can be a learning opportunity.

The school work closely with families to ensure that all children achieve their potential across the community, having relentlessly high expectations of themselves and others. They also try to make learning creative, stimulating, inclusive and fun with lots of challenge, setting ambitious goals for the future.

The school tries to offer the children a vast range of opportunities to light the spark of their learning, giving them the skills and tools they need to take off and fly however they are heavily bound by ever shrinking budgets and have to spend this very wisely. The school is situated in a deprived area and has 141 pupils aged 3 - 11.

After a recent review of English across the school an issue with handwriting has been identified. To work to rectify this the school would like to introduce 'Start Bee' - which are providing schools with a teaching method and handwriting tools which, in combination, helps anyone, whatever their ability, master fast, legible handwriting. They are on a mission to ensure EVERY child can write effortlessly, enjoyably and excellently and EVERY school meets the attainment outcomes for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2: English Writing, as set out by the Department of Education. Further information can be found here http://start-bee.com/

In addition to this the schools outdoor resources are very lacking and are in need much need of a refresh. This will enable the children to use the outdoor facilities to enhance their learning but also have valuable and enjoyable down time during break times.

All of this will not come cheap and i'd appreciate if you could support this cause in anyway - if everyone who see's this just donates £2 we would hit the target extremely quickly!

In addition to this crowdfunding i'm also arranging numerous other fundraising activities in my workplace including raffles, cake bakes, football cards, quizzes and what i hope will be a great Christmas Market in December.

Having 2 children at this school and knowing many of the other children and parents that attend, this is a cause very close to my heart. Not only this but 5 generations of my husbands family have attended this school previously and we would love to make it a great place for the generations to come.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please do share!
