Story

Automated External Defibrillators (AED) is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to restore a normal rhythm. In the event of a suspected Cardiac Arrest, these devices can be vital in saving a life. Without immediate medical treatment, a shocking 90-95% of sudden cardiac arrest victims will sadly die. However, if a defibrillator is used and CPR is performed within 3 to 5 minutes, their chance of survival will dramatically increase from 6% to 74%.

The chairman of Adur District Council has launched an appeal to have a number of AEDs installed around the district similar to the one on the cover photo which was installed recently on Crabtree Lane. The costs are approximately £800 each and I have permission to install one outside Shadwells Court in Mash Barn.
