Story

Hi everyone,

I’m eager to share that in August I will be attempting to run 200km (124 miles) in 20 days to support Ben Debonnaire in his fight against Motor Neurone Disease.

For anyone who doesn’t know Ben, he is a friend and former work colleague of myself and many others in Saudi Arabia, this was until he was diagnosed with MND almost 2 years ago. Ben was an avid footballer, golfer, gym-goer and loved strumming away on his guitar but this all has been snatched from him by this incapacitating disease.

Ben’s condition has now reached the point where he’s unable to walk unaided and has to use a motorised chair to get around day-to-day but is fortunate to have the support of his friends and family. None more so than his wife and soulmate Caroline, who whilst supporting and caring for Ben full time, also does an amazing job raising their young boys.

I currently work in Taif, Saudi Arabia which is 4800 feet above sea level with the temperatures currently varying between 23 degrees at 6am to 29 degrees at 6pm. Weekends here are Friday & Saturday so I will be starting my first run on Friday 2nd August at 6am with all my other runs being at either 6am on the weekends or 6pm midweek.

This challenge is not just about running; it’s about making a difference for those affected by this debilitating condition and help raise awareness. Your support will be gratefully received, whether that be through encouragement or donations. Every contribution you make will help support both a good man and his family as well as hopefully bringing us one step closer to a cure.

All donations will be equally shared between the Debonnaire family and the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Thank you for your generosity!
