I've raised £1000 to supply a much needed defibrillator at Hendrefoilan Primary School.

Over the past 10 years I have been trying to enter the London Marathon and finally this year I have been given a spot on the start line for the 2018 race. I’ve been lucky enough to get a ballot place which means I can just turn up and run without raising any money for a charity but I don’t want to waste this opportunity to try and do some good.
Recently i have been aware of the importance of having a defibrillator fitted in all public places. Every day, someone like you, me, a friend or colleague saves a life by using a Defibrillator, even if they have never seen one before, it will talk them through exactly what is required and at what pace, in a calm and reassuring voice.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest kills a staggering 270 people each day in the UK alone, which is more than Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer and Aids combined. It can happen to anyone, any age, and it does. 15 young people die each week, that’s over 700 young lives, each year, many of which could be saved with a Defibrillator.
If you have access to a Defibrillator, the chance of saving a victim of cardiac arrest is increased by 50% if used within 4 minutes. For every minute that passes, their chance of survival reduces by 10%. CPR alone will only result in 5% survival.
Every school in the Killay and Dunvant area are fitted with at least one Defibrillator apart from my children’s school Hendrefoilan Primary, so i want to try and raise enough money not only to fit a unit but to get the staff trained on how to use it correctly and to make sure it is maintained and calibrated.
So if you can help by donating whatever you can the school and I would be extremely great full.
Thank you in advance
