Leeds to London – A Solo Endurance Ride

On the 20th June 2026, I will ride solo from Leeds to London in a single day – approximately 230 miles – as a personal endurance challenge and to raise funds for the RHA Benevolent Fund.
Why this ride
This ride has been in my mind for several years. It is not a race, record attempt, or stunt, but a controlled, self-supported endurance ride focused on efficiency, resilience, and steady decision-making over a full day on the road.
Riding solo for long hours requires patience, planning, and the ability to manage both physical effort and time alone. In many ways, that mirrors life on the road as an HGV driver — long periods of responsibility, self-reliance, and quiet focus.
Why the RHA Benevolent Fund
I work full time as an HGV driver, and I’ve chosen to support the RHA Benevolent Fund because it provides practical, confidential help to people and families connected to the road transport industry when times are tough.
The Fund supports drivers and their dependents facing hardship due to illness, injury, bereavement, or financial pressure, without judgement or agenda — simply helping people get back on their feet.
Type 1 Diabetes context
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2019. Using modern continuous glucose monitoring and a closed-loop insulin delivery system, I manage my condition alongside an active and physically demanding working life.
Blood glucose management will be fully integrated into pacing, fuelling, and rest stops throughout the ride. The challenge is not about pushing limits, but about preparation, awareness, and consistency over distance.
Thank you
Any donation, large or small, is genuinely appreciated. The fundraising is not the primary motivation for the ride, but it is a meaningful way to give something positive back to the industry I work in while committing fully to this challenge.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for any support you choose to give.
About the fundraising
This page has been set up using JustGiving’s Crowdfunding option in agreement with the RHA Benevolent Fund. The charity does not currently have its own JustGiving profile, so this route allows donations to be made securely and transparently. All funds raised go directly to the RHA Benevolent Fund and do not pass through my personal accounts at any point. Every donation supports the charity’s work helping people and families connected to the road transport industry during times of hardship.
