Story
St John's, Percy Main, urgently need to raise a total of £59K, to fully renew our failing heating system. Our current heating system is outdated, inadequite, constantly failing, and is a constant financial drain on our funds. St John's would like to completely renew our whole heating system. A warm church is pivotal to the mission and outreach of the church in our parish. From St John's we run a much-needed and well-used local Baby Bank. Since the Baby Bank was launched, we have been able to support and help over 300 struggling parents with fine quality baby essentials. A new heating system would preserve baby items, preventing damage and dampness to baby clothing.
At St John's we also provide a hospitable space to various other local groups, such as Beaver's, Cub's, Scouts, Alcholics Anonomous, and our regular well attended Monday Coffee morning. The Church is also used for large social gatherings, such as funerals, weddings, baptisms and various other charitable events.
St John's is also a grade ll listed building and a new heating system would help preserve our sacred and historical building.
Revd Lee Cleminson has already successfully secured a large grant of £30k from the Diocese of Newcastle and we need to raise a further £29K. St John's plans to hold various fundraising events to raise further funds and is asking people to kindly donate whatever they can to help us achieve our target and, hopefully, have a new updated heating system installed in time for this coming winter.
