Story

My name is Leethen Bartholomew and I work for the National FGM Centre, which aims to eliminate new cases of FGM by 2030.

To help raise fund for the Centre, I am going to walk 50km across the South Downs. This is the first time I’ve done such a challenge, so not sure how long it will take me but I am hoping to complete the course within 12 hours.

I am going to be walking in a team and together we are aiming to raise £10k.

With your help, the Centre can continue to deliver CPD Accredited training to equip professionals with the tools they need to spot the signs and respond to concerns where girls may be at risk of FGM.

We can also continue to work with children and families to ensure they know where they can get support and become champions against FGM. Our overall goal is to prevent another girl undergoing FGM.

Here’s what we can do with your money:

- £10 will help towards to develop resources (workbook, action plan, activities)to work directly with children.

- £25 will help to deliver one session of direct work with a child or young people and their families who undergone or at the risk of FGM and other harmful practices.

- £35 will help a professional (teacher, social worker, nurse, midwife) to attend our full day CPD accredited FGM training.

- £50 will help to fund a community event to raise awareness around FGM and other harmful practices for parents and activities for children.

- £75 will help to conduct a peer research session to explore the views of communities around FGM and other harmful practices.

- £100 will help deliver our interactive child rights based awareness raising sessions in three schools reaching 90 children

- £250 will help allow us co-produce our cultural competence resources with communities. These resources will then be distributed to communities and professionals across the country.

- £500 Communities must be at the forefront if we are to achieve our vision of ending new cases of FGM by 2030 and safeguard children from other harmful practices. So, this amount of funding will allow us to organise two community seminars entitled "We all have a say".
