The beautiful Leyenda who has been through so much already has another hurdle she must overcome. This gorgeous mum is in desperate need of a specialist operation to fix her leg. Poor Leyenda broke her leg as a pup and unfortunately due to the leg being left untreated the leg has grown deformed which means that her bone and the socket need to be reformed and reshaped. This poor sweet girl has been in pain the majority of her life and her deformity only recently correctly diagnosed with the help of a wonderful vet team in the UK.

Leyenda arrived from Spain last year after a very distressing and emotional rescue which was filled with sadness and desperation. Leyenda, formally known as Legend was transported from one perrera (pound) when she was heavily pregnant during Spain's summer heat, the transport has no air conditioning and up to 20 dogs within the van. The distressing journey and the incredibly hot temperature of the van had put strain on many of the dogs and on their arrival to the perrera Legend was put in a concrete cage with several other dogs overnight. During the course of the evening Legend gave birth to 8 puppies, once the volunteers at the perrera were aware of 7 (unfortunately one had died during birth) newly born pups, Legend and her pups were moved to a separate cage. Unfortunately by this stage one puppy had passed away and the remaining 6 and Legend were in a bad way. Following a period of time the puppies and Legend were moved to a volunteers' house however this was not permanent and the young mum and her pups were moved to a paid fosterer for a short time before moving to a paid residence kennel. Unfortunately during this period Legend and her pups contracted parvo. One by one the puppies died, in total Legend lost 5 out of her 7 puppies.

Fortunately the two surviving puppies (Marlene, now Gabs and Eddie) and Leyenda have began a new chapter in their lives with wonderful adopters. However the surgery which Legend needs to stop her suffering is going to cost a huge amount of money and must be done by a specialist orthopaedic surgeon. The only other alternative to this surgery is that Legend has her leg amputated.Therefore we are seeking your generous donations to help pay for the surgery so that Legend can truly start to live and enjoy her new life in the UK.
