I've raised £5000 to provide basic survival supplies for families and individuals trapped in Vial Refugee camp, Chios, Greece

Ask yourself what you cherish most about your life and you'll probably gloss over the absolute necessities we all take for granted: dry feet, a decent night's sleep, nourishing food when we want it, the ability to take a hot shower in private whenever we want to. Our kids attending school and getting an education. A mattress to sleep on. Somewhere to go to the bathroom. A physical roof over our heads.
Right now, in refugee camps all over the world, there are hundreds of thousands of people: children, women, men, families and individuals, young and old, able bodied and disabled, living in the most dire conditions you can imagine, and being largely ignored by governments, media, people with power and organisations with the ability to radically improve this situation. these people have travelled thousands of miles to escape war, persecution and death. Now they face another unimaginable struggle: surviving life in a brutally cold, vastly overcrowded refugee camp with almost no help from the outside world and left with no hope for the future.
So along with my small network of fellow independent volunteers and my future husband, I am returning to Chios Island, Greece, to provide the most basic of supplies and aid to the 5,000 people residing in Vial refugee camp - a camp that's meant to house 950 people, and nowhere near built or prepared for the harsh Greek Winter that has already begun.
We will be providing basics like waterproof footwear, sleeping bags, tents and dry food parcels. And doing our best to bring a bit of love and cheer to the people living in these deplorable conditions.
It's Christmas soon, and let's face it, when it comes to the necessities, we all have more than enough. We are SO LUCKY! So let's spread some joy, share the wealth and do some good for some fellow humans. Please help me raise much needed funds to be able to support this incredibly needed cause. I lovingly implore you to donate whatever you can afford - every £1 will make a difference and go DIRECTLY to the people who genuinely need it (our trip costs are entirely self funded).
