Story

Thanks to warmhearted Leithers, we now need just £350 more to settle the last of our costs on The Darting Salamander, Leith's joyfully successful first anthology. Any contribution is welcome and will be listed with thanks in the upcoming 2022 edition.

The beautifully produced first edition has been distributed free of charge to local people and community organisations. It was launched in true Leith style to a fantastic reception at Out of the Blue Drill Hall in November 2021.

As a result, there is already great and growing support for the second edition with plans for a much bigger print run – demand far exceeded supply of the pioneering Darting Salamander. Thanks to generous help from many Leithers we can soon close this JustGiving campaign but need just a little further funding to cover the last essential costs – and if we raise any extra it will go towards a bumper second edition.

The theme for 2022 is Leith Links, celebrating and exploring the ever-growing connections – both internal and international – of the most diverse part of Scotland's capital city. A compassionately linked world has never felt more important.

So...Writers of Leith, sharpen your quill, dust off your keyboard. It's time to start work. How to start? Please join the community discussion through updates on Leith Writings websites: https://leithwritings.co.uk

The picture here shows some of the poets, writers, artists and performers who celebrated their part in The Darting Salamander at the launch on Tuesday 2 November 2021.

Every contributor here, small and great, is listed in the publication. Everyone can be part of it. That’s how Leith works!
