Story

🚴‍♂️ Land’s End to John O’Groats – Raising £3,500 for Trinity School's Chapel

What:

This Easter, my best friend Josh and I are cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats - nearly the entire length of the UK - in 16 days.

We’re taking on this challenge to raise £3,500 for a new interactive display for the Chapel at Trinity School in Sevenoaks.

Why:

My name is Adam, and I’m the male Assistant Chaplain at Trinity School, a co-educational Christian secondary school. This is my second year in the role.

The Chapel sits at the heart of school life. It’s used every single day for: one-to-one pastoral conversations, prayer meetings, Christian Unions, Alpha Youth, and wider pastoral programmes.

The problem is simple: the current projector is extremely difficult to see, whether the blinds are up or down (see the cover photo!)

With so many students using the space daily, it’s increasingly limiting - especially as visuals are such a big part of how we explain things, tell stories and share videos to our students.

You might even spot me often wheeling a large TV down the corridor just so groups can see what’s on screen!

A new interactive display would be a game-changer - clearer, easier to use, and far more practical for a space where faith is explored, big questions are asked, and students are supported day to day.

How:

That’s where the bike ride comes in.

Josh and I have been friends since our days as students at Trinity, and over the past three years we’ve discovered a shared love for long-distance cycling and slightly crazy adventures.

In Summer 2023, we cycled five European cities in five days - over 550km. Josh has also solo-cycled the Alps!

We’ve built up solid experience - but this will be the biggest ride we’ve ever attempted...

Over Easter, we’ll be putting that experience to the test, inviting our wider community to support us if they can. Every donation will go directly towards funding the new Chapel interactive display.

Thank you:

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this - and for any support you’re able to give. Every contribution helps improve a space that is used daily to care for, support, and walk alongside young people in faith.

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Luke 6:38

We'll keep you posted for updates!
