Story
Hello! We're Amy Meadows and Sarah Simpson and we're fundraising volunteers for St Margaret's Hospice.
St Margaret's is a charity, only part funded by the NHS, and in order to sustain their outputs (day care in the Sunflower Centre, 24hr helpline, bereavement counselling and community nursing to name a few) they need to raise a whopping £12million every year! Like all charities, St Margaret's has been hit hard by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Their shops have had to close, fundraising events cancelled, and many of their elderly or vulnerable volunteers have been shielding.
This is where we come in!! We're going to attempt to walk the Leland Trail - a 28 mile footpath that runs from from King Alfred's Tower, Stourhead National Park, to Ham Hill Country Park, Yeovil - in under 12 hours! We chose this route as 28 miles is the driven distance between the St Margaret's Hospice Yeovil and Taunton sites.
Our proposed date to complete this challenge is 24th April 2021 and we would absolutely love to be able to reach our target of £500 by then. Please dig deep and us to help such an amazing charity, held dear in the hearts of so many!
Thank you, any help is hugely appreciated :)
