Story
For this trip I'll be riding a total distance of 185km over six days riding Icelandic ponies, changing horses up to 3-4 times per day. I'll be riding over the largest glacier in Europe with thundering waterfalls contrasting the desolate ‘lunar’ landscape of vast uninhabited areas in the interior. Iceland teems with bird life, seals whales and tons of salmon; it is the land midnight sun and the Northern Lights.
With me will be a large group of horses, who will be the ones who set the pace. I just go along with the herd!
The sleeping bag accommodation on the trail is in basic mountain cabins where accommodation is communal, with everyone sleeping in one large room.
It will be tough going, there are no roads on the route, so it’s horseback or walk!
All sponsorship raise will go to the BCA, none of it will go in any way towards the trip, donations can be per Km or as a lump sum. If it’s a lump sum its only payable if I finish the ride. At my age that may be in question, but I’ll do my best.
